The Historic Onesto

It’s not just about restoring a building.
It’s about restoring a community, a city and a new way of life.

Watch the story of the amazing transformation

The revitalization of the Historic Onesto began in 2008. Watch this brief YouTube documentary – filmed after the building’s grand reopening in 2014 – to see the renovation unfold. Then read more about the restoration.

A fully restored gem in the heart of
downtown Canton’s historic district

The stunning Historic Onesto – an immaculately renovated 12-story luxury hotel built in 1930 – is now a fully restored residential gem showcasing 42 luxury loft apartments and a beautiful event center in the heart of downtown Canton’s historic district and arts neighborhood.

Onesto Lofts offer one- and two-bedroom apartments with fantastic views of downtown Canton. Apartments have the historical touches of the building’s original composition but with today’s modern luxuries and conveniences. Also located in the Historic Onesto, Onesto Event Center serves as a beautiful wedding venue and event center with a Grand Ballroom, Grand Lobby and more spaces for large or more intimate celebrations.

There has also been street-level retail space added to accommodate small businesses and shops. Just minutes from interstate highway, the Historic Onesto is easily commutable to all points in Northeast Ohio.

Built as a Modern Marvel

When the Onesto Hotel opened its doors in 1930, young hotelier Francis A. Onesto recognized the potential in downtown Canton. His hotel was an immediate hit with residents and visitors alike and hailed as a modern marvel. No expense was spared in the construction and operation of his luxury hotel. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to duplicate the hotel today.

Architecture That Cannot Be Duplicated

Enter the Historic Onesto and be immersed in elegant 1930s architecture. As guests enter the original revolving glass doors they are met with an impressive marble staircase that leads them to the Grand Lobby which features an original crystal chandelier.

Featuring large windows and cathedral ceilings with Italian Renaissance ornamental relief, the mezzanine lobby is a great space for mingling and celebrations. From the mezzanine lobby, guests have convenient access to a sitting area and bar.

Through the spacious Mckinley Room, guests are lead to the Grand Ballroom which features crystal chandeliers, beautiful maple and mahogany floors, ornate woodwork, and space to accommodate all your family and friends.

The lavish spaces in the Onesto Event Center are well suited for wedding receptions and company events, and we provide a selection of preferred caterers and vendors to choose from to help make your planning simple. Onesto Lofts residents have the privilege to reserve portions of the building for their own private events at discounted rates.
